JHM Butt & Company Ltd, generally referred to as ‘Butts of Bawtry’, was started on 18th November 1971 by Maurice Butt, Dennis Harrison, Alan Kay & Ken Wakerley. The company was created to market workshop equipment to the automotive sector and in the early days acted as a reseller for UK based manufacturers and importers selling to independent car workshops and franchise dealers.
The company was run by Ken Wakerley’s son Fraser Wakerley until March 2019 when it was taken over by Mark & Carolyn Bean. Mark has worked at the company for over 30 years and most recently was the Sales Director developing the comprehensive range of tools and small workshop equipment range which forms a significant part of the company product range. Fraser has been retained as a consultant to offer advice to the new owners.
Moving to purpose built premises in 1991 the company re invented itself to become a successful importer and distributor of workshop equipment to all sectors of the automotive sector including car, commercial vehicle and PSV workshops.
Butts import a complete range of vehicle lifts, exhaust extraction, compressors, lubrication equipment and a comprehensive range of hand tools, power tools & workshop furniture.
In recent years separate ‘departments’ have been created within the company to focus efforts to delivering a specific application from a group of products more effectively.
Printing was the 1st ‘department’, created in 2008 during the last economic crisis, with constantly updated equipment the department offers a bespoke printing solution to customers for shadow boards, bespoke workshop signage and any other printed product. The printing department is staffed by an experienced digital designer and finishing staff to offer an excellent cost effective solution.
The Tools department features a wide range of hand & power tools, smaller items of workshop equipment such as hydraulic presses and trolley jacks and a full range of battery care products including booster packs, battery testers and battery chargers and battery support units. The comprehensive range from the tools department offer our customers a real ‘one stop shop’ to buy not only large installed equipment but a full range of workshop furniture, tools and shadow boards and signage – your complete workshop from one supplier.
The latest new department is wheel alignment - with a range of high quality European manufactured wheel aligners from Laser to 3D Aligners the Supalign range of products has something for all applications including many approvals from Vehicle Manufacturers.
ADAS products are also available and can be interfaced with the PC based aligners to provide a complete solution which is both easy to use and quicker than the traditional way of orientating the ADAS system to the vehicle.
